Comparison Population
All 39 Washington counties were reviewed. The comparison population consists of the 36 general-election candidates in the 18 contested County Auditor races. The remaining counties are outside the comparison population because their Auditor race is uncontested, they have no Auditor election in 2026, or — in King County — the elected position is Director of Elections rather than County Auditor.
The November general-election candidate roster was controlled against the Washington VoteWA general-election roster and the Washington Secretary of State's August 21, 2026 certification.
Direct Experience
Direct experience refers to experience within the statutory functions of a Washington County Auditor's Office, including Auditor's Office employment or leadership, elections administration, governmental accounting/finance, recording, and licensing. The research distinguishes between hands-on performance of a function and executive oversight of that function when the available sources permit that distinction.
Transferable Experience
Transferable experience means relevant experience outside those direct Auditor functions, such as private accounting/finance, auditing/compliance, banking, information technology/cybersecurity, business management, other government service, nonprofit leadership, legal work, and similar professional experience.
Important Qualification
"None identified in reviewed public sources" means the research did not identify that experience. It does not mean the candidate has affirmatively stated that they have never had such experience.
